Willingness to Undergo Cosmetic Surgery: An Examination of Narcissism and Gender
Abstract
Cosmetic surgical procedures have increased dramatically in recent decades, with over 2.3 million performed in 2020. Research has examined a combination of psychological and emotional factors for undergoing cosmetic surgery. The present study examined narcissism and gender on the attitudes toward and the willingness to undergo cosmetic surgery. Results indicated that female participants were more willing to undergo cosmetic surgery and had more positive attitudes toward cosmetic surgery. No effect for narcissism was found.
